LAHORE: The Data Gunj Bakhsh Town Council on Wednesday approved tax-free surplus budget for the year 2007-8 showing 87 percent allocation for the development work.

Under the Citizen’s Community Board schemes, an amount of Rs 27.5 million were also being allocated, he added. Rs 56.5 million would be released from the provincial government for non- development works, he said.

About expenditure during 2007-8, he said, Rs 25 million was being fixed for construction of the town council building. For patchwork on roads, he said, Rs 20 million was being allocated. For development work like installation of water filtration plants at the UC levels, an amount of Rs 100 million was being earmarked. He said for street light energy bills, Rs 4 million while under the head of miscellaneous schemes, Rs 5 million was being reserved. He said Rs 10 million was being allocated for purchase of machinery and Rs 1 million would be spent on various programmes of women welfare.
